WINNER OF THE BEST ARTICLE FOR THE WRITTING COMPETITION - FORM 6 GRADUATION NIGHT 2019

On the 8th of August, it was the rehearsal day of graduation night. All the lower 6 students were busy rushing to finish the final preparation for the big night on the next day. All of us arrived at Soon Lee restaurant by 5 pm. Everyone of us were helping each other with the work handed to us. After finishing the final touches for the ceremony, the rehearsal started. Everything went smoothly accordingly. Everyone was cooperating well and we were able to wrap up the rehearsal earlier than expected. Before leaving the venue, we did the final checks and went home.

The next day, which was the 9th of August, everyone suited up nicely for the grand ceremony according to the theme, which is “Iridescent”. Two of the floor and decoration committees went downstairs to welcome the upper 6 students and teachers. By 7 pm, all participants had registered and were ready for dinner. When the ceremony was about to start, the committees at the PA system found out that there was a huge problem: We did not have a VGA to HDMI cable. Without it we could not project the slideshows onto the screen, which is a big deal because most of the videos and music tracks for the performances were in the laptop. One of the emcee rushed out to town to get the cable. Fortunately, we were able to start the ceremony on time despite the technical issue faced.

The emcees started the ceremony with their opening speech and  got everyone very excited for the night. After a welcoming speech by the Organizing Chairperson, Chua Hui Lee, and a motivational speech by the principal of SMJK Hua Lian, Mr. Ooi Hieu Soo, the dishes were served to every table. Everyone was dining in meanwhile the emcees entertained them. Then, there were performances by each and every Form 6 classes. First up was the performance by 6AA. Following next was 6AB, 6AC and 6AD. They were all equally amazing as the audience were cheering while watching their performance. The performance that highlighted the night was the singing performance by Ewe Leon from 6AA. Everyone was singing along with him and cheered for more as if it was a concert. The vibe was fantastic and everyone enjoyed every single moment of the night. Later, it was time for the lower 6-ers to present their performance. 6RA was up first and coming up next was 6RB,6RC and 6RD.

After the performances, it was time for the video presentation. Each upper 6 classes made a video with heartwarming messages expressing their reluctance to leave the school and their classmates as well as cherished moments together with their classmates. Next, the emcees invited our school’s principal, Mr. Ooi Hieu Soo accompanied by the senior assistant of Form Six, Ms. Chuah Bee Hoon to give out the certificates for Pengakap Kelana and Form Six Librarians. Finally, the most nerve-wrecking session that everyone was looking forward to- the prize giving session for Prom King and Prom Queen of the night. Prom King of the night was Ewe Leon from 6AA while Vivian Moo from 6AB was Prom Queen of the night.

Graduation night 2019 ended with the photography session. Everyone took pictures with teachers and friends as a remembrance. The committees made sure the venue was clean before going back home. It was indeed a wonderful night to remember.
